“The pandemic did not create, but certainly has accelerated, the pace of the inevitable evolution of the retail store from a ‘buying’ trip to a more interactive and experiential activity,” says Jim Baeck, with Design 3 International. “The overall center must also reinvent itself to create a more dynamic and experience-provoking place that will continue to draw the customer away from simply ‘ordering’ or ‘buying’ to an actual shopping center with ever-changing community activities, new and active places to gather, and a sense of exploration and discovery with every visit.”
