Fairfax Towne Center Renovation Study

Fairfax Towne Center Renovation Study

The Fairfax Towne Center Renovation Study site is located near the intersection of Route 66 and 50 in Fairfax County, Virginia will be reconfigured to start its second life in phases as a true town center, featuring a balance of retail and residential uses. This repositioned center will complement nearby Fair Oaks Mall and Fairfax Corner as suburban Fairfax County‘s new downtown. A future Orange Line Metro Station will open a short distance to the east.

The primary objective of this phased reconfiguration will be to create a walkable, multi-use town center, easily accessible from surrounding neighborhoods and ready to take full advantage of the planned DC Metro rail system extension. The Fairfax Towne Center Renovation Study plan proposes new parking decks, the relocation of a supermarket to a larger space, a variety of residential including 3-story townhouses and apartments above ground-floor retail, and landscaping and additional greenspace that connects to surrounding residential.
